When looking to revamp our denim jacket, we wanted a modern take on the classic Type III silhouette. We integrated the hand pockets into the front panel seam for a more streamlined look and got rid of the inside facing front chest pockets in favor of larger, easier to access outer flap pockets.
We largely kept the fit the same as you'd expect out of a Type III: plenty of room to move but not boxy or oversized. The cropped body length hits just below the belt. Shop owner Daniel (pictured) is 5'11" 190lbs wearing a size large.
When we found out our fabric supplier was getting an indigo version of our natural sashiko pocketing fabric, we couldn't wait until the weather got colder to launch a jacket. We really can't say enough about this fabric. At 12oz. it's the perfect weight to throw over a tee for a cool autumn evening or layer under a lined coat for those frigid days. The loose weave of this fabric means it requires no break in period and is comfortable right from the first wear. This fabric is also going to be a patina monster with minimal time to get it faded in. Because of this, be careful around light fabrics and surfaces until you've washed it several times. Raw copper hammered Japanese-made donut buttons secure the front, pockets, and cuffs. 12oz. natural sashiko pocket lining and navy tonal thread - made in the USA - round out the details on this jacket.
